More about the Explore 30 immersion workshop
How will the course information be presented? when will I receive the material?
The main intention of the Explore 30 format is to be able to take in short recordings and savor bite-sized morsels of information related to somatic movement over the course of 30 days.
Slowing down, and having time for your own direct experiences, 10 minutes a day, is key. You’ll receive daily emails with pertinent information: links to short audio or video recordings, articles, YouTube videos, photographs, etc. It is suggested you take in the new information at your leisure, and then practice for 10 minutes later when you have time. Your daily emails will arrive in your inbox the evening prior, by 9 PM Eastern US/Canada.
You are asked to view each day’s teachings in order, as the somatic movement information, concepts and experiential offerings build upon one another.
Audio and video recordings will be available for you to download throughout the month and for one week after the conclusion of the course. You will need to download and create your own Explore 30 library on your personal device, if you wish to keep the material for further use.
Are there opportunities for Questions and Answers?
Please allow the 10 minute exploration time to be your greatest resource. Connecting to your own body’s intelligence, moving in your own timing as we slow down, and receiving cues and signals for movement that are unique to you is so important. With gentle curiosity we explore “as participants in a primordial legacy that is continued in the very substance of our “bodies,” urged by currents of a process that is unfettered, alive and never-ending.” - Emilie Conrad, Life on Land
While all students are learning and practicing at home in our own timing, we have the opportunity to share and learn from one another in our field of discovery. ALL questions are relevant, and you are strongly encouraged to send an email with your question(s) directly to me, and I’ll do my best to answer you promptly.
Your questions and input are really important to the collaborative process of Explore 30. Oftentimes, the responses to a question you may have one week will benefit another student in their practice the following week. Being able to offer some refinements so that a concept is clearer, or incorporate something about Continuum that really excites you about the process and would benefit the whole group is vital. When that’s the case, I’ll put material together to share with everyone.
Can we “dive” or do our explorations together in real time?
Yes! While we’re all committed to exploring on our own throughout the month and creating a potent field together, it is also supportive to be able to meet one another and be in inquiry together. We’ll schedule a weekly 30-minute Zoom class to meet, and then explore for 15 minutes or so. The live class is for experiential learning, and will not be recorded. You have the option to turn your camera off during the exploration.
Exploration sessions Proposed times for 30 minute classes: Every Thursday, at 12:00 pm / noon, and/or 9:00 pm - all times Eastern US/Canada.
I’m new to Continuum Movement? What will I learn about it?
Over the course of 30 days I’ll be sharing elements that are key to any somatic movement practice. I will also familiarize students with the terms used in Continuum Movement (CM) as they relate to doing a “sequence” or a “dive”. While 10 minutes, your daily commitment, is a short amount of time, enough information will be shared during the month so that students can take what they’ve learned and create longer sequences to explore and layer when they’re interested and have more time.
This course is described as an immersion into daily 10-minute somatic explorations. The opportunity for our group to put together all of the course material and our daily experiences into a “Continuum Movement class” will take place the following month. In lieu of a 3 or 6 hour Introductory Continuum class like I’ve previously taught, we’re intentionally slowing down, taking 30 days to cover more material thoroughly, and engaging in what I consider to be a 12-15 hour workshop, in order to prepare us to be together for a CM class with much longer dive time.
For our Pièce de Résistance, I am proposing a Continuum Movement 2-hour class on Sunday, July 12th, 12 noon - 2:00 pm Eastern US/Canada. July 12 class registrants will receive a recorded sequence in advance and have time to practice and have any questions addressed before the experiential class. The July class investment is $15.00 for Explore 30 students, and scholarships are available to allow any interested Explore 30 student to attend.
